Date: 21/11/2009     Title: EMESP Conference 2009

Chairmen and officers representing thirteen engineering organisations in the East Midlands attended the annual EMESP chairman’s conference held at the Novotel East Midlands on Monday 16th November 2009.

Andrew Ramsay, CEO Engineering Council, gave the keynote lecture “Developments in the Engineering Profession”. He says the Engineering Council has rebranded and developed a new strategy to ensure that it is more inclusive and all engineers would be able to progress through the membership grades.

Governments response through its various enquiries into the professions has been supportive “The engineering community’s approach has been coherent and coordinated, with the institutions working together to communicate a common message with and through the Royal Academy of Engineering.”

The role of EMESP is increasingly important in this global age where multidisciplinary engineering is the norm. Delegates concluded that collaboration between organisations will make engineering broader and more inclusive and raise the it's profile amongst the public.
